Rainwater Harvesting: How it works? What to do?

Catching water where and when it falls - Every raindrop matters now as the whole world stares helplessly at an unprecedented kind of water shortage. Collecting and storing rainwater for reuse rather than draining it may be the only way out of prolonged periods of drought. Why? Whatever your government can do, it cannot produce water. The idea behind the process is simple and ancient. Rainwater is collected when it falls to the earth, stored and used at a later date. A few basic elements are usually required for all RWH RainWater Harvesting systems. 1. Catchment area 2. Transport system 3. Filtration system 4. Storage area 5. Loading area 1. Catchment area Here the rain falls. Clean catchment areas are necessary to maximize the harvest. Based on these criteria, the harvesting method differs. Harvest on the roof Today, roofs are the place for solar panels, wind generators and gardens. Harvesting water on the roof is therefore a comparatively simpler process. All you need is a clea...

It's like a switch and fall is definitely in the air here in Michigan. Cool morning and evening hours, a few rainy and cloudy days and a distinct freshness in the air. I love Michigan summer, but fall is magical. I try to soak up every bit of it because bad winter is waiting for us next ... Would it be strange to put on 2-3 autumn outfits every day!?!? Just so I can wear them all No? Never mind ;) The fall newcomers end up in my favorite stores and I've done some serious window shopping! I can not resist. Here are some of my favorite recent finds. top row from left: Straight leg jeans I love light-colored jeans, but I'm ready to jump into darker colors for fall middle row from left: long printed dress , I'm obsessed! And if where you live is still warm, it's a great way to dress up for more fall, but in a light dress cap I love this hat! So beautiful! oversized black sweater I always love an oversized black sweater for fall. It is the epitome of cosiness....

I always love a good J.Crew fall shopping session ... you just can't beat their fall deals. Today I have some super cute pieces that I would like to show you. These are some great items for early fall and the transition to fall when the weather cools down. For each piece, I designed a couple of ways to get some ideas on how you would like to wear them. I never like to buy clothes that I can't imagine in different ways. Let's take a look at some great fall pieces ... Size: I reduced one size to XS so it works as both a sweater and a cardigan. Thoughts: This cardigan is so cute and frankly, much better in person than it is online. I love wearing it as both a cardigan and a sweater and who can really resist a striped sweater in fall? Buy the look: Size: I went small with my usual size and it's too big. An XS would be perfect, so I would recommend downsizing. Thoughts: This sweater is so stunning. The fabric is beautiful in person and there is no wool so no itching! ...

I always love the switch to fall weather and fall clothing ... but this year it seems a little more special than usual. We still spend a lot of time at home, although the schedules have improved a bit and I am ready to click update in a few spots around my house these days as well. Autumn always feels like a new beginning and that is exactly what I yearn for now. I love working with neutrals in my home because it's easy to add a new rug, couple of new pillows or a wreath, and it's so easy to mix and match everything. This year I'm drawn to moody rust and earth tones as accents for my neutrals and of course everything has to look and feel as cozy as possible, like we do in cooler weather. Today I've put together some fall items that caught my eye this season. I love this simple one striped carpets to freshen up an entryway or mud room, and they are great when the snow weather kicks hit. I kept an eye on these beautiful ones Glass votive for a few weeks now i have...

J.Crew Factory Try on Session

I have some fun J.Crew Factory finds today that I'd like to share with you! I am always impressed with the quality at Factory, and while the photos online are not the best (am I alone?) I am always pleasantly surprised with the quality when the items arrive. I think it's great that Factory has become its own brand, but it's also a great buddy for big sister J.Crew. I often see classic J.Crew pieces reinterpreted at lower prices, like coats and blazers OR items from previous seasons that have been re-released which is always fun. Only found a few items today but I think you will enjoy them. (about) black sweater jacket Thoughts: This is a near-exact J.Crew Juliette Sweater Blazer and in my opinion a lot better money than the original. The fabric is just a tiny bit different and the cut is exactly the same. The only noticeable difference is that the Factory version's pocks are inside, while the J.Crew version's pockets are patch pockets. For the price, this is a...

I often get questions about taking care of clothes, from the steamer I use to organizing my closet where hangers don't leave "bumps" in the shoulders of sweaters. Today I am putting them all in one place. These are items I own and LOVE and highly recommend too. Steam boat This is a great compact steamer for a good price. Vapers can get very expensive, but I've found this to be good value and work really well. It's not ideal for travel, but it works, I've definitely packed it in my suitcase before. I bought travel steamers which are much cheaper and broke twice. I think this one is a good middle ground for not being wildly expensive but still compact and of high quality. Drawers for jewelry I have a similar set of jewelry drawers (it looks like my exact drawers are no longer available online) and find them very helpful for keeping my jewelry organized but still in a compact container as I don't have a lot have rooms in my closet. Sunglasses drawers I ...

I recently went down a rabbit hole at Old Navy while shopping online for my kids to get back to school. They both went like crazy in the summer - as usual - and I always have jeans and khakis for them there. Then I went to the women's newcomers and was very pleasantly surprised by what I found. I'm always a little hit or miss at Old Navy, but when I find some good pieces it is definitely worth sharing because the prices are just so great. If you can really find the quality, it makes some of them a breeze for fall. Let's take a look at the pieces ... for most of them, I've styled them first (a little summery) and for later (more autumnal) to give an idea of some ways to style them. Thoughts: This is so cute and really the perfect summer to drop weight sweaters. I think the quality is great and I love the length of the tunic. It works very well now with white jeans and later with leggings. Size: I got my usual size small. True to size. Keep or return? I will kee...
