jillgg's good life (for less)

It's that time again! Time for another 6 ways to style ... I'll take a cabinet clip and design it in 6 ways to give you lots of ideas for simple outfits. I'm just trying to buy items that I know I can wear in a variety of ways, and this helps me visualize how versatile a piece can be - I hope it helps you do the same! Joggers are hot for fall this year, and while we've loved them for a while, they're especially relevant this fall as so many of us still work at home or stay home more than usual. They're so comfortable and fun to wear too! Today I'm designing a pair of joggers that I've had for a while. They are for sure my most worn pair! They were sold out forever, but they're back in stock so grab them now while they're around. This pair is true to size, I'm small in my usual size. Let's take a look at the outfits ... Outfit 1 (above) These joggers go great with a sweater jacket to spice up the look a little for work at home or jus...

jeans I love THE INDEX!

A long time ago in February (this feels like 20 years ago at this point!) I posted a series about the jeans I love ... from the fit of each pair to the reasons I love them and some of mine Favorite ways to style them. .. the posts have everything! Today I am going to round up all of the posts for a simple point of reference, but I will also refer back to the original posts if you wish to refer back. Denim is a HUGE staple in my wardrobe and I keep getting questions about what the best couples are or which couples I love the most. I don't buy jeans lightly! It's not easy ... you know? The jeans I chose for this series really had to be the best of the best. The jeans I picked are mom-friendly and perfect for everyday wear, with a few fun, on-trend options. There are more and more cuts and styles that I discover so I can add to this post in the future. But in the meantime, you can't go wrong with any of these styles. You can see the entire archive of the series HERE b...

fall jackets!

I had a couple of requests for recommendations for fall jackets for fall! We already had jacket weather and I pulled some of my favorites from previous seasons. I've owned most of these for several years and I love them so much. They are simple and classic and perfect for layering! I'll wear anything from a dress or tank top to a sweater underneath, depending on the weather. Let's take a look at some of my favorites! (about) green field jacket ( similarly cheaper ) Size: I scaled down one size to an XS in this case, but it makes layering difficult to work with except for very light layers. So keep this in mind when ordering. This one is pretty light, but I love that it's a coated canvas so it's more rain repellent when needed. The gold hardware is just stunning and the jacket is so classic. (about) Denim jacket ( similarly cheaper ) Size: I'm small in my usual size, it fits an oversized touch that I like. This denim jacket is thicker than most, but soft a...

good life (for less)

I have an EPIC sweater for you to try on today ... all from H&M and under $ 40. I mean ... the prices here are so good and so are the sweaters. I think H&M makes sweaters really, really well. I love their modern simplicity, the versatile colors and the prices for great quality just can't be beat. These sweaters are all comparable to Nordstrom, J.Crew or Madewell, but in most cases at half the price. I have a couple of H&M pieces from last winter that I can barely wear again this fall and winter. I think it's great that the parts can withstand several seasons. Don't let the prices here fool you on the quality ... somehow they BOTH get it right. Today I have some great fall sweaters that I styled in two ways ... I made sure to include lots of leggings and some joggers in addition to the fall standby denim. I think many of us will continue to enjoy our leggings this season, so I wanted to introduce the sweaters that go well with the athleticism this fall. T...

jillgg's good life (for less)

When buying my wardrobe, versatility is important to me. When I know I can't carry a part in multiple ways, I rarely add it to my closet. Some pieces will stand out as the type that you can literally wear a million ways and when I saw it this striped sweater I knew it was one of them! While I usually try to style a piece in 6 ways, today is a quick styling session with just three outfits. But I know the potential for this striped sweater has a lot more outfits. I love the tunic length of this sweater - goes great with leggings - and it's lightweight so the look and layers look great in summer and the weather cools down too. It is also available in countless colors, both striped and solid, depending on the style! I went for small with my usual size this sweater . It fits the size accordingly. Let's take a look at the outfits ... don't worry about all that school junk on the table. This is life nowadays! From blue jeans for a casual work from home or leggings for...

Mackinac Island recap and what I wore!

We have just had a great weekend on Mackinac Island for the long Labor Day weekend! It was a great time to relax and unplug (literally there was hardly any wifi anywhere on the island) and get outside and enjoy the fantastic weather. We had time in the 60s and 70s with a few days in the 50s. It was MAJOR Fall Vibes and I loved every minute of it. If you are unfamiliar with the island, it is located in northern Michigan, where Lake Michigan meets Lake Huron. There are NO cars or motorized vehicles on the island and it is literally the most charming step back in time. Horses, buggies and bikes are the name of the game - we even saw Amazon parcels being delivered by horse-drawn carriage! We drove and walked endlessly which made up for all of the fudge we ate - fudge is another trademark of the island. The island is only 3 square miles, 80% of which is a state park. There is also a large fort on the island that was occupied by the British in the War of 1812. So there is just a lot...
